\n\t\t\t\t\tAtlas of Mediterranean Liquidity\t\t\t\t<\/h1>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tAtlas of Mediterranean Liquidity is an ongoing project of interactive maps, regarding climate change\u2019s effect on water problems around the Mediterranean. \t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The platform offers a growing collection of maps, devoted to different questions about the Mediterranean Liquidity: Water use, people and culture around water sources, historical events of disasters and damage to the sea, future speculations about changing sealines or drinking water shortages and so on; not only to coastal regions but to the entire geographical area of neighboring countries, including inland areas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Mapping is not a neutral practice, it reveals the agenda of those who created the map, usually those in power. The concept behind this atlas is to bring as many voices, perspectives, narratives, and agencies of people who live around the Mediterranean. Following the water streams the atlas reveals conflicts and collaborations in the region; the geography of water – crossing national borders, communities and cultures, brings to the surface all the challenges but also, the potentialities of our region.<\/span><\/p>\n

And if the act of mapping is a political act that creates reality, this atlas offers an alternative way of \u201creading\u201d, or better, living in the region. Through a speculative mapping of the future, an imaginary horizon gets shape.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project is a collaborative effort of the <\/span>Goethe-Institut<\/span><\/a><\/span> and CDA Holon <\/span>to create new ways of\u00a0 learning, thinking and understanding different issues and perspectives regarding water in and around the <\/span>Mediterranean.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According to a <\/span>study presented in October 2019<\/span><\/a><\/span> by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), climate change threatens the mediterranean region like no other area on earth. One of the most pressing issues is the expected water shortage in many areas on the one hand and the increasing danger of flooding in some regions on the other. We believe that data, knowledge and cross borders collaboration are the main keys for understanding the importance of the issue, and are the first step for a social and political action.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
